Accessibility

Last updated: September 26, 2026

Playbook is committed to digital accessibility and to making its app and website usable by persons with disabilities.

1. Our Approach

Playbook aims to provide a clear, readable, and usable experience across its app and website.

Accessibility is considered throughout the design and development of the platform, including navigation, text, controls, images, motion, touch interaction, forms, and assistive technology support.

2. Accessibility Features

Playbook includes accessibility support across the mobile app, including:

  • Screen readers — accessible labels and roles for buttons, tabs, links, images, alerts, progress indicators, and other controls.
  • Clear control descriptions — important actions are described instead of relying only on icons.
  • Accessible states — selected, checked, expanded, disabled, and loading states are communicated to accessibility services.
  • Image accessibility — artwork images can include descriptions, image position information, and accessible full-screen viewing controls.
  • Reduced Motion — Playbook respects the device's Reduce Motion setting and reduces or removes certain animations when enabled.
  • Larger touch targets — many controls use expanded tap areas and minimum touch sizes to make interaction easier.
  • Text readability and contrast — small text, supporting text, and low-contrast interface elements have been improved across the app.
  • Accessible forms and errors — search fields, password controls, publishing fields, account actions, errors, and loading states include accessibility information.
  • Accessible navigation — navigation tabs, back controls, profiles, work pages, and other major areas use accessibility-aware controls.

These features extend across major parts of Playbook, including authentication, onboarding, Home, Explore, Search, Create, work pages, artwork viewing, creator profiles, personal profiles, saved and published works, profile editing, connections, reporting, work editing, and account deletion.

3. Non-Discrimination / Inclusivity

Playbook is for everyone and anyone to enjoy and fully experience, without preferential or adverse treatment based on race, gender, religious views, ideology, disability, nationality, or background.

Accessibility and inclusion are part of Playbook's approach to creating a platform that can be used and enjoyed by people across the world, from the largest and most populated cities to the smallest and most remote villages.

4. Text and Readability

Playbook prioritizes readability over decorative styling.

Text, labels, buttons, supporting information, and form elements should maintain strong visual contrast and remain understandable in both light and dark themes.

5. Mobile Accessibility

The Playbook app is designed for iOS and Android.

Interfaces are designed to remain usable across supported mobile devices and screen sizes, with controls that can be comfortably selected and content that does not depend on unnecessarily small text or precise touch interaction.

6. Assistive Technology

Playbook supports native accessibility features provided by supported devices and operating systems, including screen readers and Reduce Motion.

Accessibility support may vary depending on the device, operating system, browser, and software version being used.

7. Images and Creative Work

Because Playbook is a visual archive, images and creative works are an important part of the experience.

Playbook uses accessible image information and controls where appropriate, including descriptions, image position information, and accessible artwork-viewing controls.

Playbook also takes steps to preserve the visual presentation of artwork when supported system accessibility display settings could otherwise alter the work itself.

8. Accessibility Standards

Playbook is designed with accessibility and WCAG principles in mind.

This page does not represent formal WCAG certification or a claim of full conformance with a particular WCAG level.

9. Ongoing Improvement and Alignment

Playbook is designed so that people can experience and use the platform regardless of disability or individual accessibility needs.

Accessibility is an ongoing part of Playbook's development and continues to be considered as the app and website are designed, developed, tested, and improved.

Playbook is designed with reference to internationally recognized accessibility principles, including the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

As Playbook changes, accessibility issues may be identified and further improvements may be made.

10. Report an Accessibility Issue

If you encounter an accessibility problem while using Playbook, please tell us.

Email us at hello@playbook.cam, report an accessibility issue through the Contact page using the contact form, or report it via the Playbook application.

If possible, include the page or screen where the problem occurred, what happened, and the device or browser you were using.
